We woke up after far too little sleep, 3 hours to be precise, all still a little drunk and hazy from the night before.
Why were we up so early i hear you ask, we thought we had to check out of our little apartment at 10am. But there was some confusion over where we should leave our bags. After uming and arring for a while we decided to go grab some breakfast first to sober up and hope by the time we were done we had heard back from our apartment owner.
We hadn’t. So we waited around for another 20mins, trying desperately to ring, text and email the owner before giving up and heading out into the sun. Our first stop was East Side Gallery. East Side Gallery is probably what most people picture when you say Berlin. Its the famous part of the Berlin Wall that has been covered in amazing illustrations.
We walked the whole length of it, stopping at pretty much every new painting to take in its message. It really is an incredible piece of art. Chloe and I stopped to buy our very own piece of the wall, like every other tourist i’m sure! We then spent the next 15mins debating if it even was part of the wall, and if so how much more of it they have left to sell off to tourists!
After we were done at the wall, we just went for a bit of a wonder. We were headed for Museum Island, but we were in no real rush so we just strolled through the streets enjoying the sunshine.
^ Looking really happy!
We eventually arrived and were all a little confused as to why its called museum “island” as its more definitely not an island! We sat on the grass in front of all the museums and lapped up the sun and taking photos, all still feeling a little fragile.
After all this walking around we were completely ravenous so we found a cute little restaurant by the river, sat outside in the sun and munch away. I’m afraid there are no food photos for this one, not because the food wasn’t great, i was just far too tired by this point to worry about photos.
Before we knew it, it was time to head back, grab our bags and head to the airport 😦 Chloe did not want to leave!
We had the most amazing jam packed weekend, and can safely say i would happily go back to Berlin in a heart beat. Thanks Chloe and Sim for making it oh so much fun, and for both of you donating all your photos to my little blog! It would have been half the size without them!
Are any of you planning on going to Berlin anytime soon? If so, whats on your to do list while your there?
***I have had a few messages from my dear friend Chloe complaining that I’ve not given full credit to her eating skills! Therefore i would like to correct my previous two posts about Berlin stating that Chloe did in fact manage to finish all her food, every day, some days even finishes Simona’s! Apologies Chlo!!!!
