Darwin Brasserie – Sky Garden

Ed and I had a rather special occasion a little while back, and so to celebrate I thought it would be lovely for us to head back to the Sky Garden and try one of their restaurants, Darwin Brasserie.

The Sky Garden is obviously mainly known for the garden! However the incredible food and service at the two restaurants and having the chance to dine in the sky also helps. Having booked in advance, I told the restaurant that it was our anniversary and they gave us the best table in the house, situated in the corner by the window meant we had an incredible view of the garden and London below us.

Ed was trying to do a whole month without drinking (not dry jan, it was before that!) so he opted for a very girly looking mocktail, while i had a beautiful proper drink.

Anything with edible flowers always looks and tastes so incredible. Because this was a while back, sadly the things we had for dinner aren’t on the menu any more as their menu is completely seasonal. But it was all so lovely I wanted to still tell you all about it.

To start with I opted for the salmon tartar special that came with an avocado mouse. It was INCREDIBLE. Super light but packed full of flavour, it was the perfect starter, I could have eaten it twice! Ed went for a beef with horseradish and toasted pine nut topping. Again really yummy, but we both definitely preferred mine.

I honestly could eat it again right now!

For main I had an incredible lamb dish with dauphinoise potatoes and a mint jelly sauce. The lamb was so succulent and cooked impeccably, still beautifully pink and full of flavour. Ed opted for a cod and pea puree dish that was also so tasty. The cod was buttery and light, accompanied with a delicious jus to pack it full of flavour. And of course, we had a side of truffle fries!

The food was all to die for. I really cant recommend it enough. After all the mains I was SO stuffed, but Ed insisted we order a dessert to finish with. I let him choose as I knew I wouldn’t have able to have more than a mouthful so it would be a waste if I chose anything. He settled on an incredible lemon cheese cake with fruit compote and meringue topping. It was the perfect choice after the fairly heavy meal that we had had. Light and smooth it was also the perfect combination of textures. DELISH!

All in all we had such a lovely night. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and obviously that view is second to none! Its obviously not the cheapest option, but if your looking to celebrate something or just looking for somewhere a bit more special, make sure you check it out!
